Welcome to The Asian Game

Welcome to the brand new website of The Asian Game, where our aim is to bring you quality, in-depth and independent writing that will keep you coming back for more.

But, what is Asia?

From Lebanon in the west to Japan in the east, and everything in between, the continent is a vast mass of people – literally more than half the world’s population – with different culture, race, religion and economic circumstance in each of the 47 countries that makes up the Asian Football Confederation.

From tropical oasis to urban metropolis, from desert sands to remote wilderness, the landscape is as vibrant and diverse as the people who inhabit it.

But one thing links every one of the nearly 4.5 billion that call this part of the world home – football. Football is the thread that links a ‘salaryman’ in Tokyo to a street vendor in Baghdad.

Football has a rich history right across Asia, with stories and legends dating back decades, even centuries. But often they are stories confined to just one small part of this wonderful continent, rarely told outside their geographic confines.

Our mission at The Asian Game is to bring these stories to you.

Through our existing podcast, that has already had more than 40,000 downloads, and now our new website, we aim to bring you stories, interviews and features on the players, clubs and national teams that have, and continue to contribute to the rich tapestry of Asian football.

In the modern 24/7 world, people expect immediacy and a constant stream of news. Clickbait has, sadly, become the norm and people consume news in different ways at an ever-growing rate.

We aim to be different.

We are not a news site. With the vast geographic expanse of Asia, combined with the plethora of different languages spoken, it is impossible to keep across all the news and bring it to you in a timely manner. We cannot, and do not aim to, compete with trusted, local sources of information.

What we aim to bring to you is quality, independent, long-form journalism.

We aim to bring you the story behind the story, the in-depth analysis of the issues facing the game in Asia and bring you closer to the key individuals involved in the game with wide-ranging, insightful interviews.

We will not post numerous articles every day. We will not even post every day. We may only post a few pieces each week. But our aim is not to spam you with content. It’s to give you a unique insight into football in Asia. Quality over quantity.

We hope through The Asian Game we can grow a deeper appreciation and understanding of the unique and diverse world that is Asian football.

Football is the beautiful game, it is the world game.

This is The Asian Game.
