Ali Khaled is a journalist and documentary-maker based in Dubai. From 2009 he worked for seven years as a writer and editor at the The National newspaper in Abu Dhabi. Currently a freelancer, he writes mostly for GQ Middle East and The National, and has in the past contributed to other publications such as Al Arabiya English, Arab News, Newsweek Middle East, Esquire, Emirates Airline’s Open Skies Magazine, and These Football Times, among others. He also directed the football documentary “Anwar Roma” (Lights of Rome), the story of the UAE’s qualification to the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
